When you say you have everything backed up does that mean you’ve saved all your posts on your computer or a back up/side blog? I’ve been wondering if I should do something like that just wasn’t sure the best way. Also, enjoy your new pieces soooooo much. Just wanted to let ya know ?
Hey @imgoldee – yes and yes.
The easiest way and best way to back up everything – pics and all – is to set up a free WordPress account, log in, and use the Tumblr Importer under “other importers”. I do this every couple weeks and just set the WordPress blog as “Private”, so only I see it.
It doesn’t back up messages and Notes though. In order to do that (if you want to), you can log in to Tumblr itself and use their shitty backup and download it and it dumps everything to a zip file that is impossible to even really use. But you do have everything if you want it. If you have a few hundred posts, then I guess it’s ok. I have over 4000 so it’s really just for peace of mind for me.
And last, I am creating a Kindle book of my using something called BlogBooker, which dumps it to a Word file or PDF, but you only get a few attempts and it goes in 6-month blocks. There is no real good reason to do this unless you want to create a book.
Those are the best options I’ve found.
